Page to Stage: Class will take a classic fairytale and spin it on it's head for laughs! Students ages 8-18 will audition (all participants are guaranteed roles), rehearse, design and perform the show from beginning to end! If you would like to learn about acting, scenery, sound, lights, costumes, props...this is the experience for you! Family and friends will be invited to the performance on May 19 on a Nashville stage! Rehearsals are scheduled each Saturday from 2:30-5:00 from February 4th thru May 5. Dress rehearsal is May 12; Performance is May 19.
Creative Drama: For ages 6-8 works to build the imagination through drama games, the senses, storytelling and more. Students will play and create on their own and as a group. This class is a wonderful introduction to the magic of theatre for energetic and artistic youngsters.
Youth Acting I : For ages 9-12 aims to lay the foundation for the beginning young actor. The tools of voice, body and imagination will be awakened at every class meeting through drama warm-ups and games. Theatre vocabulary will be introduced through simple scenes and an ensemble of creative performers will be built.
Contemporary Acting: For Teens will explore the acting theories of realistic acting. Actors will examine the text by asking questions. Who is my character? What does (s)he want? How will I go about getting it? What stands in my way? Examining the text in this way supports the portrayal of believable characters seen on today's stages and screens.
Classical Acting: For Teens goes back in time to discover how the Ancient Greeks donned a mask, how Shakespeare's acting troupe pulled off a 5-act comedy in a week and more. Performers will discuss, wear or use masks, corsets, fans, swords and understand theatre history as a result.
