2010 Camps, Classes & Intensives

 Ballet Princess Camps:

Age 4-7: June 7-11 &  June 21-25, Mon. thru Fri., 12:30-2:00 PM. . . .$95.00

 This camp will introduce students to the lead characters and stories of four different ballets.  Students will have daily ballet technique class as well as learn specific movements of the ballet characters.  They will also explore the hair, makeup, shoes and costuming of the prima ballerina. Students should wear a leotard, tights, and ballet shoes, color is not specific for summer classes. (If you are purchasing new dance wear– our fall dress code is short sleeved pink Bloch leotard, pink Bloch tights, and Bloch pink dansoft ballet shoes)

Introductory Dance Sampler

Age 6-9: July 5-9, Monday through Friday.9:30 AM-12:00 PM. . .$140.00

This camp will give the student a chance to experience many different forms of dance.  The students will revolve between FSPA teachers at 30 minute intervals learning ballet, jazz, hip hop, Tap, Irish Dance, and modern.  They will also be given a short break for a drink and snack and work on dance related art projects throughout the week.  Students should wear shorts or sweat pants with a T-shirt or leotard.  Long hair needs to be secured up off of the face and neck.�All students will need socks (or ballet shoes if they have them) tennis shoes, and a hard soled shoe (or tap shoes).

Beginner/Intermediate Dance Camp      Age 9-12        June 21-25

Monday through Friday classes, 2:00 PM– 4:30 PM. . .$140.00

This camp is offered to dancers at a beginner level through intermediate.  Daily classes will be given in ballet technique, modern, jazz, tap, hip hop, and choreography.  Dancers will need their own ballet shoes and tap shoes.  Jazz shoes and tennis shoes are also helpful but not completely necessary. (We have a box of used shoes that may be borrowed).  Appropriate clothing would be a leotard and tights for girls and shorts, white socks and fitted t-shirts for boys.

Stage Door:  Acting Intensive

Age 10-17      June 14-18, 1:00-4:00 pm, Monday thru Friday .  . . . $180.00

Teen actors will spend one day focusing on each of the following:  voice, movement, character creation, script analysis, and auditioning.  Each day will be an in depth analysis of the topic with appropriate warm ups, discussions, drama games, and performances.  Students should wear comfortable clothing and be ready for a fun, yet challenging week.

 July Dance Intensive (3 weeks)  July 12-30   is offered to three different levels of students- Intermediate, Intermediate/Advanced, and Advanced.  (Intermediate equates to FSPA ballet level 3 & up).  Minimum age is 10.  Acceptance into the dance intensive is by audition.  Audition consists of a short ballet class and center modern and jazz combinations.  Ballet technique is the most important prerequisite for this camp.

3 week Advanced Intensive:  10:00am- 4:00pm, Mon-Fri, Tuition: $585.00

3 week Int/Adv. Intensive:  10:00am- 4:00pm, Mon-Fri, Tuition: $585.00

3 week Intermed. Intensive:  12:30am- 4:00pm, Mon-Fri, Tuition: $340.00

 

Classes include Ballet, Pointe Variations (adv. only), Modern, Jazz, Repertory, Composition, Improvisation, Classical Chinese dance, Cappoeira, Pilates, Anatomy & Kinesiology, Pedagogy. 

2010 Guest Faculty include Cinnamon Halpert Smith (Modern- Chattanooga), Brendan Bohannon (Cappoeira- Johnson City).
